Obvious Symptoms Of Diabetes

By Ronny Pratteroll

Other than cancer, there's another disease that most people dread and that is diabetes. So below, you will read about the symptoms of diabetes and how is diabetes caused.

Diabetes is defined as an ailment wherein the body is unable to function properly by not producing enough insulin or not responding to it. Insulin is a hormone that instructs the cells of the body to absorb glucose so that it will be changed into energy. Since the human body cannot take glucose in, it stays in the blood which leads to many detrimental effects. Generally, diabetes is categorized into type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder thought to be brought about by a combination of genetic predisposition and additional factors. In this type, the immune system attacks and kills the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. This event leads to symptoms such as frequent urination, unusual thirst, extreme hunger, unusual weight loss and extreme fatigue and irritability.

The second kind of diabetes is type 2 diabetes which is connected with the lifestyle of the person. This results to the body's resistance to insulin which means that the body does not react to insulin. That is why no matter how much insulin is produced, the body doesn't respond. As a result, glucose can't be transferred from the blood into cells which lead to an increase in blood glucose level that has its very detrimental effects on the body. The effects do not seem serious at first that is why it is important that people be vigilant about the following signs of type 2 diabetes which include excessive thirst and appetite, increased urination, unusual weight loss or weight gain, fatigue, nausea and even vomiting, dry mouth, slow-healing sores or cuts, itching skin and blurred vision. In women, the most distinctive symptoms is frequent vaginal infections or yeast infections.

If you have been feeling the above things, then you should go to a doctor. They will run tests on you and when you are diagnosed with the condition, you'll be given medication to control the increasingly high glucose levels. Aside from the medications, the doctor could also advise you to modify your diet. If you just follow all that are recommended by the doctor, you'll fairly be able to get by. But this doesn't mean you shouldn't be vigilant because there are symptoms that warrant you to seek immediate medical attention.

The symptoms you should be wary of are nausea, weakness, excessive thirst and urination and pain in the abdomen. Also part of the symptoms are rapid, deep breaths that smell like nail polish remover, weakness, fainting spells, fast heartbeats, trembling, excessive sweat and sudden drowsiness.
